my questions: 1. can we transfer my MIL from a nursing in the East directly to one in California, with no interruption on the funding;
2. If not, how should we deal with medication cost if she needs to stay with us during the wait time period for acceptance by a nursing home in California?
3. If strictly following California procedure, we need to keep her at home in California for a year to have her become CA residence to qualify for Medi-Cal (Medicaid in California), which costs another few months. And it probably takes another several months to find a nursing home to take her in as she only has Medi-Cal as the funding source. Do you think that it's too risky situation, such as one ER visit can wipe out of our savings account.
