I used to 酷爱文学, ten years of Culture Revolution actually provided the most ideal opportunity for me to read all kinds of literature all day and everyday. Also, growing up in 复旦 campus, I was able to get hold of great 作品 from 古今中外.

I have never anticipated that after 20+ years of barely “touching” Chinese, most of my Chinese have literally escaped me! I used to be deeply saddened to realize that when my children grow up, they would never be able to appreciate the beautiful Chinese poetry in the same way I enjoy them! Now, I am deeply saddened by how difficult it is for me to find the precise Chinese expression I used to do so freely!

Together with my poor spelling, I almost have to use the dictionary for every word … for now … and hopefully with my older kid goes to college this year, I will be able to catch up in my Chinese in the near future …
